It's been a while!

As you probably gathered from my last post on my academic schedule, HUC has been keeping us pretty busy here in Jerusalem! I'm going to give some highlights of what we have done in the past few weeks (in no particular order)

-Visit to the Menachem Begin Center. Menachem Begin was elected as the Prime Minister in 1977 and, whether or not Israelis like him, he was a prominent figure in Israeli Politics long before then. For more information on Begin, visit this website: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/biography/begin.html

-Visit to the Numonyx Fabrication Plant in Southern Israel. Numonyx is part of the Intel Campus and they create memory products for electronic devices such as cell phones. It was realy cool being on the Intel Campus- we all commented on how it really felt like being in America! For more information on what numonyx does, visit their website! http://www.numonyx.com/en-US/Pages/default.aspx

-Visit to the 2nd Temple Period Jerusalem model at the Israel Museum. This was super cool! It's a to scale model of the entire Old City of Jerusalem as it stood in the 2nd temple period. Here's a picture:

-Kabbalat Shabbat Service led by two of my classmates. We have a morning shacharit service every Thurdsay which is led by students. I always enjoy when our class gets together for these services, and it was especially nice to have a Kabbalat Shabbat service together! We also had a really tasty potluck dinner afterwards- lots of recipe swapping!
Ok those are just a few of the things I can remember from the top of my head. Other than that, I am loving my classes, and also my time at the Hartman Institute. I am sure I will have a lot more to write next week after my Mom's visit!
